Kingdom Concentrate Week 2

So based on the more "whimsical" approach feedback, this was what I came up with...

Kingdom Concentrate Silhouette

So this was week 1 where we started off designing in Silhouette. We have to find a job description for each character...And the general feedback for most people is steer toward a more "whimsical" approach.

Kingdom Concentrate Project

This was our first project titled Kingdom Concentrate. Basically its a character design exercise where we had to design multiple characters based on real fruits and vegetables for a fantasy RPG. Anyway this is my personal take for the project. I will post what I did for the class in a bit.

Yo Dan,
Sorry for being so absent.  Things have been busy and I have been traveling a lot so I haven't had the sit-down time that I would like for staying in touch.  I have been doing a lot of form studies to try and improve my perspective and mass awareness.  All those little object drawing are a good excuse to work on light logic and a good warm up to drawing.  Otherwise, I have been fighting the urge to draw monsters and trying to do more from sight portraits and studies from masters paintings to understand anatomy.  Monsters are still showing up in my pad though.  I am not sure about LA yet and I guess I will have to make that decision somewhere down the line.  I hope the city is treating you well, man.  Will post again soon.

Gatchaman Redesign

Well, the title is a bit deceiving.  This isn't really much of a redesign as I was simply jotting down my take on Gatchaman without much thoughts.  I'll call it the first pass and perhaps after several more of these, I'd be more comfortable calling it a "redesign."

Still in the fight

Man...  It has been weird being back from LA.  I am still getting my head around the whole thing but I have been try to hit the sketchbook and work on my fundamentals.  Still playing with forms in 3d space and applying initial sketches towards digital work.
I picked up a couple of those aqua brush pens and love em to death.  Really easy to fill them with the tones I want, brush tip controls great and it means no trash in a landfill when they run dry.  How have you been man.  I miss our late night drawing/philosophy sessions.

First Post: Doodle from Taiwan

I hate this to be the first post, but I figure if I don't sketch something and just post it, it'll never happen.  So here it is...something unfinished as usual.

Update: added another dude on the lower right...
